Starting Life in Another World
(for Gun-il)
There is a kind of de_th with no fun_ral
no headst_ne, no inc_nse lit in your name,
just a name quietly erased from a page,
a life that ends not in silence, but mid-song.
You didn't see the bl_de coming.
Not on an ordinary Thursday evening,
when the story you spent a decade writing
was closed by someone else's hand.
Nearly a decade flashed before you in an instant,
and still, nothing prepared you
for how quickly a world can end
for how you don't get to gri_ve before you're moved.
No ⏸️, no rit_s.
The world still keeps spinning with_ut you
That exgf, boss, & strangers sipping coffee, clocking into jobs in ordinary mornings,
while you sleep alone in the wr_ckage,
still learning how to leave it behind.
Your mind loops the way a soul loops
when it's flung back to the start-
what could have been, what happens now,
a version of yourself you don't recognize in the mirror.
But this is not the first world to ask everything of you.
You were built on discipline long before this;
to carry weight without flinching,
to lead without needing to be led.
So, even brken open, even here,
you do what you have always done.
You rise.
Not the same as before.
That version of you is gone,
buri_d quietly in the story that ended.
But something in you already knows this rhythm:
fall, gri_ve, rebuild, rise again,
and rise stronger every time.
So you step into the next world (enlistment, etc)
not as the boy who was loved and lost,
not as the leader who was erased,
but as someone who has 🪦 once already
and came back knowing exactly
how much he can survive.
This time, you don't start from zero.
You start already standing.
From everything you've learned.
From all the experiences and loved you received.
From all the hard work, efforts, care and love you have given!
